Finnish violinist Lilja Haatainen, just 14 years old, has signed with global artist management agency HarrisonParrott, where she will be represented by Katie Cardell-Oliver. By joining the firm, Haatainen shares a roster with renowned violinists such as Alena Baeva, Randall Goosby, and Patricia Kopatchinskaja.
Born in 2011, Haatainen began playing the violin at the age of three, following the Suzuki method. She gave her solo debut at just eight years old, performing with the Oulu Symphony Orchestra.
She is currently a student at the Finland Violin Academy, having also trained at the Oulu Conservatory and the Porvoo Institute of Music. Her development has been guided by mentors Janne Malmivaara and Elina Vähälä.
Haatainen has already performed as a soloist with numerous prestigious ensembles, including the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Finnish Chamber Orchestra, Jyväskylä Sinfonia, Oulu Sinfonia, Espoo City Orchestra, Vaasa City Orchestra, and Jena Philharmonic Orchestra. She has worked with conductors such as Nicholas Collon, Dalia Stasevska, Kristian Sallinen, and Rumon Gamba.
In 2022, she earned first prize in her age category at the Juhani Heinonen Violin Competition in Finland, solidifying her status as a rising star in classical music.
Looking ahead, Haatainen will perform as both a soloist and a chamber musician at various summer festivals across Finland. She has also been invited by Janine Jansen to perform at the International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht in the upcoming season.
Her forthcoming debut appearances include performances with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under Manfred Honeck, as well as with the Pori Sinfonietta and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra.
Haatainen’s violin studies are made possible through the generous support of the Stretton Society, the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Pro Musica, and the Wihuri Foundation in Finland.
