Violinist and composer Viktoria Elisabeth Kaunzner has released her newest album, Saiga Antelope, under the Solo Musica label.
The album features four world premiere violin works by acclaimed female composers: Claudia Montero, Violeta Dinescu, Elena Kats-Chernin, and Kaunzner herself.
Kaunzner performs with the Universal Korean Organic Ensemble and her own group, Viktoria & Virtuosi (UKOREVV), conducted by Juan Pablo Hellín. Together, they present a rich palette of musical styles, blending tango rhythms, impressionist colors, and ancient Asian sounds. The ensemble comprises 30 young virtuosos from 15 different countries, adding a global character to the recording.
The program includes two violin concertos: Roman Fleuve by Violeta Dinescu, written especially for Kaunzner, and Claudia Montero’s Violin Concerto. Other featured works are Times of Rain & Sun by Elena Kats-Chernin, and Kaunzner’s own compositions: Saiga Antelope, Silk Road, Jasmine Rice, and Lucid Dreams.
Saiga Antelope also served as the foundation for a concert tour and a YouTube violin concerto marathon titled EurAsian Flow, held at the Philharmonie Berlin. This live marathon concert is currently under consideration for a German Opus Klassik Award.
Kaunzner, who made her solo debut at age 12 with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra Plzen, was appointed at 28 as the youngest female professor of violin and chamber music at the Franz Liszt Music University Weimar, specifically for its South Korean campus at Kangnam University. She now teaches at the Victory Academy Berlin, continuing her influential role as a performer, composer, and educator.
