Deicide Guitarist Kevin Quirion Exits Band After 15 Years

by Adele

Kevin Quirion, longtime guitarist for Florida death metal legends Deicide, has announced his departure from the band. In a social media post dated May 18, Quirion revealed that he officially left the group last month, bringing a 15-year tenure to an end.

The timing of his exit has raised questions among fans, especially as it follows the band’s unexpected withdrawal from the upcoming Exodus tour just a month before it was set to begin. At the time, Deicide cited “scheduling conflicts” but later removed the statement, sparking confusion. With Quirion’s departure now public, some speculate the two events may be connected.

Despite the lineup change, Deicide has just confirmed a new Latin American tour with fellow extreme metal icons Behemoth, scheduled for this fall.

Quirion contributed to three Deicide studio albums during his time with the band: In the Minds of Evil (2013), Overtures of Blasphemy (2018), and their latest release, Banished by Sin (2024).

In his farewell message, Quirion explained:

“So after 15 years I decided to leave the band last month. Mainly I’m just done with touring and would like to spend the extra time with my family. I will still be writing songs and have already sent some to Derek Roddy and Sean Baxter to release under the Council Of The Fallen name. There will be no labels or shows, just putting out EPs whenever we feel like it. It was nice meeting a bunch of fans, bands, promoters etc and I wish everyone the best. Got to go now. Look for a job and Roblox with my son…”

Though he’s stepping away from the road, Quirion made it clear he isn’t done with music entirely. Fans can expect future releases under the Council of the Fallen project, though he emphasized they will be low-key, independently released EPs with no live performances or label involvement.
